Product Attributes

Important

Content Blocks are now called “Product Attributes.”

Anywhere you previously saw or used content blocks, you'll now find them under the new name
Product Attributes. The functionality is the same, only the terminology has changed.

Important

Each Product Attribute you create adds a corresponding section to every product in your catalog. If a product doesn’t have any content for that block, that section will simply not appear on its Product Page.

Using Product Attributes in Native eCommerce

Content Blocks allow you to customize the Product Page by adding and highlighting extra information about your product, such as features, materials, and care instructions.

Several widgets support Content Blocks, including the Accordion widget. When you add one of these widgets, you’ll see instructions prompting you to connect it to a Content Block in your product catalog.

Creating and Setting Up Your First Content Block
  1. Navigate to the Product Detail Page in your store admin.
  2. You’ll notice that a few Content Blocks come preset with the template.
  3. From here, you can update or delete existing blocks—or create a brand-new one.

After saving your product details, return to the Product Detail Page and locate the Content Block section again.

Click the intersecting rings icon to add and connect your content block to a widget on the Product Page.

You’ll see a list of widgets that are compatible with the selected block.

For this example, we’ll use the Accordion widget.

How the Accordion Widget Works

The Accordion consists of two components:

  1. Title (Static)
  • This is the clickable label (e.g., “What is your return policy?”).
  • You manually enter this text on the Product Page.
  • The title is static, meaning it does not change per product.
  • Every item in your catalog will display the same title.
  1. Description (Dynamic)
  • This section appears when the title expands.
  • It contains the actual content—details, instructions, text, etc.
  • The description is dynamic, meaning it automatically pulls product-specific data from your product catalog.
  • Each product will show its own unique description.

Configuring the Description
  1. Delete the placeholder text inside the description area.
  2. Click the intersecting rings to connect the widget to data.
  3. Choose the correct field from your product catalog.
  4. Preview your work to make sure the connection is correct.

Repeat this process for any other content blocks you’ve created.
Be sure to review multiple products to confirm everything displays correctly.

What Happens If a Content Block Is Empty?

If a field in your product catalog is blank, the editor will show a message:

“This is a placeholder and won’t appear on the live site.”

When previewing the live site, you may notice:

  • The accordion title appears
  • But the description area is empty

This happens because the accordion’s
title is static—it always displays—while the description is dynamic and only shows content if the corresponding field in the catalog has data.

In our example, the Content Block for this product was left blank. Since no data exists, the description section remains empty.

Final Reminder

When creating Content Blocks for your products, ensure that every product has data in each field you plan to use.
Otherwise, the widget will have a title with no description on the live site.
