/PREPARE to build your SELF-SERVICE FLOW
The components of a successful self-service solution
Before we talk about
who you’ll need on your team, let’s first talk about the
what:
What are the components that make up a successful self-service (DIY) solution?
Below, we’ve listed the functional components that your team will need to build, as well as some operational/go-to-market components your team will want to plan for.
Functional components of your self-service flow
Most DIY flows include most of the following components:
API-powered site creation automation
This represents the fundamental API calls that your team will use to dynamically create sites, push data, generate user accounts, set permissions, and grant access
Templates
You’ll want to have pre-designed site templates (and section templates) for your clients to choose from
Template chooser
You can customize the interface your clients will use to select their site templates
White-labeled editor
You’ll want to add your business’s logo and colors to whitelabel Duda's editor to match your branding
SSO integration
You’ll want to connect your existing SSO solution to your Duda account so your clients have a seamless experience accessing the editor
Intake form*
If you’re going to have a step that collects additional information from your clients, you’ll want to build an intake form for your clients to fill out
Custom widgets*
Custom widgets can be developed to embed your flagship technology into the sites you sell. These widgets can be added to templates so your technically is automatically included with each site.
*Optional; these are not required but strongly reommended.
Go-to-Market considerations
In addition to the technical components you'll need to build, you'll also want to think through these GTM/Ops topics:
Product plan (including pricing & packaging)
You’ll want to think about how much you’re going to charge clients for basic websites, decide whether you want to offer different plans that unlock more advanced capabilities, and identify other upsell opportunities you’d like to offer down the road
Sales & Marketing plan
Your new website offering will likely need support from your marketing and sales resources to grow
Customer training & support plan
You’ll need a plan for how to train & support your website clients.
(Good news: Duda has white-labeled educational resource to help you!)
Security
You’re new to selling sites or your business has been selling sites for years, it’s never a bad idea to do a quick audit of your security practices (especially when you’re dealing with client data!)
Note
It’s normal to have lots of questions at this stage.
Don’t worry! We’ll run through each of these in more detail and provide you with questions you’ll want to consider with your team along the way.
Although this list may seem like a lot, know that many of these tasks can be worked on at the same time by different members of your team so you can launch your flow and start generating revenue as quickly as possible.
Next, we’ll talk through
who you’ll want on your team in order to work on the components mentioned above.
