/PREPARE to build your SELF-SERVICE FLOW
Planning the user experience
The next topic your team will want to think through is
what happens after the user indicates they want to build a site.
Often you’ll direct your client to a template chooser where they can pick which site template they want to use for their site. Now with the template chooser step, your flow will look like this:

Although you don’t have to give your clients template choices, we strongly recommend presenting your clients with at least
3 options to choose from at launch.
Having templates that are tailored to your industry and needs of your clients is another opportunity to build trust and credibility with your clients — you’re demonstrating that you understand them and what a business like theirs needs to have a successful web presence.
Critical decisions: Client permissions & content
Before you start building your templates, you’ll also want to have decisions made around 2 other critical questions:
What content do you want to be immediately available when your client’s site is first generated?
and
How much control do you want to give your clients when editing their site?
(In other words, what is the editing experience you want to provide?)
There’s a lot to consider here, so we’ll tackle each of these questions separately in the next lessons. For now, collect your thoughts around what you’d like to have happen once a user clicks the button to generate a site, and how many templates you think you’ll need to have to support your clients when you launch.
